How do we do that?
How it all began
The mission of Manicube is to empower women across the world.
Manicube provides women with confidence by offering manicures at their place of work. We hope to make their lives just a little bit easier while adding a bit of color and delight to their workdays! Manicube then takes $1 from each of those manicures and contributes it towards microloans for female entrepreneurs in the developing world through our partner Kiva, helping these women become leaders in their communities.
We got the idea for Manicube when working in the beauty industry and constantly running to meetings with high-end beauty brands, editors, and business partners. We knew it was important to be professionally polished for these in-person meetings but it became a weekly chore. The constant running around trying to juggle errands between important meetings, family and friend obligations, fitness and a million other things is difficult for working women! We realized that a number of our female friends—bankers, lawyers, tech mavens, and fashionistas alike—all felt the same way. We thought about the personal services offered for men at big banks and corporate offices like shoe shines, tailoring, and dry cleaning and realized it was time to finally begin serving the needs of working women as well.
Here’s the other thing we knew: After travelling to Africa and Asia during our time in business school, we saw, first-hand, the positive effects of microloans on impoverished communities. What if there was a sustainable way to support female entrepreneurs who really needed our help? To make giving back central to the way we do business?
Voila, Manicube! Here’s to the beauty of convenience and the beauty of supporting women across the world to help them on their professional journeys.
